November Yoga Report

Each month I record some things about my journey. I do these posts for a couple of reasons; I want to keep a record of how I am progressing with my yoga, it will hold me accountable, and it gives you a very good look at what I am doing and how I am doing it.

Below you will find out the following things about the past month: goal poses that I am working on, what my home practice looked like, the yoga classes I attended, total time dedicated to fitness, and my healthy habit for the month.

Check out what this girl is doing to improve her yoga!

November Report

Goal Poses: These are the poses that I am currently working on.

Splits: I am working on my splits every day. I hold each side for 5 minutes. A block is used to support my weight so that I can relax in the pose. This month I was able to put the block down to a lower height. I still have a ways to go though!

Headstand: I am able to stay in my head stand for longer and longer. I still need to work on my confidence so that I can do headstand confidently without a wall. I am getting better at going up with a pike position.

Flipping my grip: I was able to this for the first time during my weekend of teacher training. We did a workshop on backbends and it did the trick for me!

Flipping my grip in king pigeon pose!

Home Practice: This is what I am currently doing as my home practice.

This month I added yoga back into my home practice. My goal is to do a minimum of 15-minutes a day. I do a few sun salutes and then some poses that I feel like my body needs. Then I do some breathing exercises and my savasana. I am still also doing my 15-minutes of stretching every night, but I am not going to consider it part of my home practice time anymore.

Healthy Habit:

Each month I focus on a healthy habit. If I feel like it is second nature to me by the end of the month I add in a new habit. If I ever feel like I get am not doing so well with a past habit I will make it my monthly focus again.

This month I focused on adding in an evening routine to my day. I was able to do this on the first try! Here’s what it looks like:

drink warm milk (add either cinnamon or cocoa powder)

stretch for 15-minutes

read non-fiction

drink a green drink

floss and brush

oil my feet with almond oil

meditate

write in my gratitude journals

read fiction in bed

I like to start at 9 so that I have enough time to read both the non-fiction and fiction and have the lights out at 10:30.

Next month I would like to work on adding cardio to my workouts. I want to add swimming once a week and running once a week.
