Each month I am going to record some things about my journey. I’m going to do these posts for a couple of reasons; I want to keep a record of how I am progressing with my yoga, it will hold me accountable, and it gives you a very good look at what I am doing and how I am doing it
Below you will find out the following things about the past month: goal poses that I am working on, what my home practice looked like, the yoga classes I attended, total time dedicated to fitness, and my healthy habit for the month.
Goal Poses: These are the poses that I am currently working on.
Crow: I am beginning to be more consistent with this pose. I would still be able to hold it for longer though before I change to a different goal pose.
Headstand: I am getting better at going up into a headstand without a wall. But, this is something that doesn’t happen everytime. I will need to continue to work on this for awhile. When I first started these yoga reports, I had that idea that I would have goal poses, and every month be able to change them. However, I am realizing that somethings are going to take me a long time to master. I may have some goal poses for 6 months, maybe even a year and I’m okay with that. Some people can go up into a headstand on their first try, I am not one of those people. I really have to work at it and practice. But, I feel really great about when I do get it!
Home Practice: This is what I am currently doing as my home practice.
My home practice this month was pretty nonexistent. I was traveling for the majority of the month and it just didn’t happen.
I did get some time on the beach a few times to practice my goal poses and some other balance poses, but that’s about it.
Total time spent on home practice (excluding what is listed below): 2 hours

This month my numbers don’t look nearly as good. With almost a full month of traveling, things just simply looked different. Even though I was not able to practice yoga or exercise as much this month, I am okay with it. Everyone needs a break once in a while. Also, I find that sometimes when I take a step back and rest, I am able to do things better when I go back to it. I also did a ton of walking on my travels and went up and down a lot of stairs. In Paris, my feet were sore from walking everyday. We stayed on the 5th floor, with no elevator, plus the 20 or so flights each day from going in and out of metro stations and within the city itself. Needless, to say, I felt like I worked my muscles this month regardless of the numbers turned out.
Healthy Habit:
Each month I will focus on a healthy habit. If I feel like it is second nature to me by the end of the month I will add in a new habit the next month. If I ever feel like I get am not doing so well with a past habit I will make it my monthly focus again.
This month I focused on adding in an evening routine to each day again since I wasn’t able to make it a habit last month.
My plan was:
Before I get too tired ( I can do things after my evening routine) I will…
- Do ten minutes of yoga and stretching
- Meditate for 10 minutes
- Write in my gratitude journal
- Plan my meals for the next day
- Write my to-do list for the next day
Unfortunately, with the traveling, I didn’t do my evening routine very often. It’s so hard for me to keep a routine when I am not at home doing my regular things. I also didn’t eat clean or use very much portion control. I think I need to take a step back in September and go back to clean eating and portion control. It stinks to feel like I went backward with so many things. But, you only live once and I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of my travels. I don’t regret it one bit!
